I. Woodworking Craft Experience

With gentle breeze and bright sunshine, in March, international students from Beijing New Talent School went to Zhongguancun College to participate in Chinese culture experience. The theme for this experience was woodworking manufacturing.

Entering wooden workshop, students saw a wooden world with orderly desks and chairs. On display case, all sorts of wooden and delicate crafts were exhibited with useful and practical purpose.

Filled with expectation, students quickly changed their dress for woodworking. Next, the leading teacher announced the task for students—manufacturing a music box.

First, teachers taught students how to saw a wood, which is a basic step before woodworking.

Next, batten polishing. Students were distributed with all kinds of abrasive papers, which were to be used for polish battens. After polishing for three times, the battens in their hands tended to be more smooth and delicate.

Third, they started to connect their battens. With a piece of soundboard, a bottle of white emulsion and a heap of block, students began to design unique style of music box. About twenty minutes later, different kinds of music boxes were represented to us, playing different and beautiful music.

After manufacturing music box, students started other wooden crafts. Their imagination were underestimated, only after a short time, a new batch of works were displayed, including sword, sailing boat, cake as well as wooden bed.

Good time don’t last for a long time. The woodworking experience came to an end in the afternoon. Though the experience was over, their imagination, creativity and operational ability were well-developed through the wonderful cultural activity.

II. Visit to Beijing Shichahai Sports School

At the end of April, international students from Beijing New Talent School visited Beijing Shichahai Sports School under the guidance of their teacher. In addition, both the two schools has kept a close cooperation relationship with Admissions.cn. International students in K-12 (from kindergarten to twelfth grade) stage who want to apply for those two schools could apply directly through our platform.

Beijing Shichahai Sports School is a reserve base for high-level sports talents affiliated to the Sports Administration, Since its establishment, it has cultivated more than 3 thousand sports talents, which is also said to be the “cradle of world champion” in sports field. After about one-hour drive, international students arrived at the Shichahai School with their teachers.

Then with guidance from teachers, students visited taekowndo hall, badminton hall, pingpong hall and comprehensive training hall. In those halls, all sports players were busy with training, perspiring without complaints.

After seeing training halls, students was led to Shichahai theater to see Chinese Kungfu. The Kungfu shows were performed by coaches who once taught sports champions. Students watched and listened attentively with curious eyes. When it came to on-the-spot teaching, students scrambled to be the first to experience the charm of Chinese Kungfu. Only after several minutes, students had mastered the basic skills of those Kungfu.

After watching Kungfu show, teachers and students all together took a group photo with the Kungfu performers and had a taste of the nutritious food of sports players.

The visit of Shichahai school broadened the eyes of international students, enriching their understanding of Chinese Kungfu and traditional culture. We believe that the experience will leave them good memories.
